I am 54 years old and was raised in the Cedar Rapids area, graduating
from Marion High School in 1972. After graduation I attended Kirkwood
Community College, moving on to the University of Iowa. In 1977 I moved
to Muscatine County. My great-grandparents were Muscatine residents
near the turn of the century. My parents, Roger and Lucy White, raised me
with good moral and ethical values before they passed away, which I hope
I've passed on to my family. A younger sister, Jill, lives in Columbus
Junction.
My wife, Linda, and I currently reside at 1299 Elder Ridge Road in West
Liberty. We met in 1977, were married on June 3, 1978 and celebrated our
30th wedding anniversary on primary Tuesday. She was the former Linda
(Kaalberg), was raised in the Nichols area, graduated from West Liberty
High School in 1972 and from Muscatine Community College in 1974.
Linda's parents, Bob and Gerrie Kaalberg, currently reside in West Liberty.
She came from a much larger family, having 2 brothers, Dave and Phil,
and 3 sisters, Cathy Cox, Annette Carter, and Paula Cooney. Linda has
worked the last 15 years as the Administrative Secretary at the Iowa City
Police Department.
We were blessed with 2 sons, a daughter-in-law, and 2 grandchildren.
Andy (29), and his wife, Abby, live in Conesville. Andy received his Fire
Science Certification at Kirkwood Community College in 2000 and was in
the first group of Paramedic/Firefighters hired when the Muscatine Fire
Department added their Paramedic program. He is also the Assistant Fire
Chief of the Conesville Volunteer Fire Department and President of the
International Association of Firefighters Local Union in Muscatine. His wife,
Abby, received her BSN from the University of Iowa and is a registered
nurse in the Emergency Room at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa
City. They live in Conesville with their two children, a 4 year old daughter,
Libby, and a one year old son, Payton.
Travis (25), is single and lives in Cedar Rapids. Travis received an
Associates Degree from Kirkwood, along with his CNC certification. He
was recently promoted to the Machine Shop Supervisor at Conveyor
Engineering in Cedar Rapids where he has worked since 2002.
In my spare time, I enjoy camping with family and friends in Okoboji, fishing
and hunting, and flying the powered parachute when weather permits. I am
currently in the process of obtaining my private pilots license.
I am a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Aircraft Owners
and Pilot's Association, Green Castle Aero Club, and the National Rifle
Association. I am the ONLY candidate that supports the NRA's right-to-
carry legislations.
My entire adult life has revolved around public safety of all types. From
search and rescue scuba diving, law enforcement, firefighting, and EMS,
there is little in the public safety realm I have not been involved in.
